Mad Hot Ballet: New Wave, this year’s edition of the National Ballet of Canada’s annual fundraising gala, lit up the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts on June 3. The event featured a one-hour performance of excerpts and short works by the company’s dancers and artistic staff, followed by a reception in the lobby. It raised more than $1 million in support of the National Ballet’s Community Engagement programs, adding to the $18 million generated since the initiative’s launch in 2007.
