A man has been arrested in connection with a fatal and fiery multi-vehicle crash on the Gardiner Expressway earlier this month.
Police responded to the collision involving three vehicles, with聽one on its side against the median, engulfed in flames in the Gardiner’s westbound lanes near Lower Jarvis Street on July 8.
One man, 68, was pronounced dead at the scene and four people were sent to hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening. Two others were treated at the scene by paramedics.

On Thursday, that a 26-year-old man from Caledon turned himself in on Tuesday. He was scheduled to appear in court the same day.聽
The accused was charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death and four counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm.聽
Cassidy Powell watched the scene from his downtown condo building, 鈥淭he whole time I鈥檓 thinking, 鈥榟opefully there鈥檚 nobody stuck in a car’,鈥 he said.
Powell later learned a man had died in the crash. 鈥淚t鈥檚 devastating,鈥 Powell said, knowing he witnessed someone鈥檚 final moments alive.
Insp. Phil Sinclair told reporters that multiple vehicles had caught on fire, and that occupants “were possibly trapped in the vehicles.”
