Officers said suspects fled the area in a vehicle, later updating their post to say three people have been arrestedÂ
The circumstances of the shooting are still under investigation and there was a large police presence in the area.Â
One person was on their balcony overlooking the corner of Adelaide and John when they heard the shot. They rushed to the ledge and looked down to see a group of people in the middle of John Street fighting a man in a dark coloured t-shirt.Â
“There were more gunshots and then the guy in the dark shirt was lying in the middle of the road. A white mini then drove right toward the guy and drove right over him and seemed to drive straight down toward John and King,” they wrote to the Star.Â
Another witness recalls seeing the man sprawled on the road.Â
“The victim was in the middle of the street. Everyone else was on the sidewalk apart from what looked like one lady who looked a bit distraught and the police were trying to get her to move back,” the man, who also wished to remain anonymous, said. “Just a lot of people and police.”Â
He told the Star he was close enough to hear police telling the victim to breathe as the ambulance arrived.Â
Police are asking anyone with information to contact 416-808-2222.
