Peel police say they are searching for two suspects after a victim was scammed out of $15,000 by someone impersonating an officer in Brampton.Ìý
According to police, the victim received a spam text on Saturday and responded with personal information because they believed it was real. Around 5:45 p.m., someone responded, saying he was an undercover ɫɫÀ² police officer, police said  on Friday.Ìý
He allegedly told the victim that there had been fraudulent activity on their account. Police say two male suspects then arrived at the victim’s home in the area of .Ìý

The victim provided bank cards and later discovered $15,000 was taken from their account, police said.Ìý
Police are looking for two male suspects who fled in a black four-door Mitsubishi SUV. The driver is described as being between 36 and 38 years old, with short, black hair and a heavy build, and was wearing a checkered dress shirt. Police added the passenger is described as a male.Ìý
Police say inside the vehicle there was a working computer set up between the driver and passenger seat with a police sticker attached.
“Card fraud continues to be a serious concern, and your awareness is key to prevention,” the release reads. “If you suspect someone claiming to be a police officer is not legitimate, request their identification and confirm their credentials by contacting the police service directly.”
