One eastbound lane of Steeles Avenue has reopened following a closure on Monday due to a sinkhole.

UPDATE:- As of 3:00am *ONE* eastbound lane is now open. - All lanes are expected to be open by midnight this evening. - Seek alternate routes to avoid delays. - Thanks all for your patience in the area. - An update will be provided when the roadway has been fully reopened.

The remainder of the eastbound lanes should open again by midnight on Wednesday, added police.

The sinkhole prompted the closure of eastbound and on Monday as water was flooding and pooling on the roadway, said police around 2 p.m. on July 7.
UPDATE:
- All eastbound lanes on Steeles from Airport to Goreway will be shutdown for at least 24 hours.
- An update will be provided when the roads have reopened.
