TORONTO - Five things to watch for in the Canadian business world in the coming week:
Trade
U.S. trade issues are expected to continue to be top of mind this week after U.S. President Donald Trump threatened to impose a 35 per cent tariff on Canadian goods last week. Canada and the U.S. are working toward a trade agreement by an Aug. 1 deadline.聽
HBC
Hudson鈥檚 Bay is expected back in court Tuesday, when one of its biggest lenders will push to terminate a deal between the defunct retailer and a B.C. billionaire who wants to buy up to 25 of its leases. Restore Capital LLC will also ask a court to appoint a 鈥渟uper monitor鈥 to subject the department store chain to even more oversight as it winds down.

Inflation
Statistics Canada will release its latest reading for inflation on Tuesday when it report its consumer price index for June. The report comes ahead of the Bank of Canada’s interest rate announcement and monetary policy report on July 30. The annual inflation rate in May was 1.7 per cent.

The Canadian Real Estate Association will release its June home sales figures and its latest quarterly forecast on Tuesday. 色色啦 sales in May were down 4.3 per cent compared with a year ago, but were up 3.6 per cent on a seasonally adjusted basis from April, marking the first month-over-month increase at the national level in more than six months.
Cogeco results
Cogeco Inc. and Cogeco Communications Inc. are expected to release their third-quarter results after markets close on Tuesday. Cogeco said earlier this year that its plan to offer mobile service in Canada was on track and it had begun signing up customers who already subscribe to its other services.
