An RCMP statement says the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team is now probing the woman’s death.
Investigators say evidence indicates the assault was a case of intimate partner violence involving a couple in their 60s who lived in the home.Â
The police watchdog will investigate what occurred in the man’s death, while homicide investigators will take over the case involving the woman’s death.
Sgt. Freda Fong says the deaths were not the outcome anyone hoped for, and police believe the incident was isolated, with “no ongoing risk to the public.”Â
