The man was rushed to hospital in serious, life-threatening condition, Peel paramedics told the Star, adding that the driver of the Purolator truck was uninjured. The second driver was taken to a local hospital as a precautionary measure, officers said.

, the OPP said the 31-year-old driver from É«É«À² had succumbed to his injuries and died in hospital. 

The OPP said they were continuing to investigate the crash, which had prompted a several hours-long closure on Highway 407 on Monday.

There were no indications that a criminal offence had occurred or that charges would be laid, said OPP spokesperson Taylor Konkle.
