A building in midtown ɫɫÀ² has been shot at in two separate incidents in the past seven days. 265 Davenport Avenue houses Mimi Chinese, a well-known Asian restaurant, and Parc Ave, a swanky lounge/nightclub located above the restaurant. Both have been targeted by gunmen in the middle of the night recently.
On July 1 around 11:30 p.m., police were called to the location, and many media reports said that Mimi Chinese’s windows had been hit by 8 bullets. While the glass had been repaired, there were still bullet-hole rips in the drapes behind the windows. Nobody was injured as the restaurant was closed at the time.
The restaurant’s management believes they were not the intended target.Â
“Last week, our beloved neighbourhood restaurant was the target of a senseless and misplaced act of violence. We are incredibly grateful that no one was hurt as we were closed at the time and no one was inside,” said a statement from Mimi Chinese’s management team.

Last night, police were again called to the location near Bedford and Davenport, with reports of shots fired around 1:30 a.m., but this time the target appeared to be next door which leads to Park Ave nightclub, damaging the glass doors. Again, nobody was injured as both establishments were closed. On Monday around lunch, workers were busy replacing the glass, while the remains of evidence marker littered the lobby of the club.
“We are unable to comment further on last night’s shooting at the nightclub Parc Ave as we are not authorized spokespeople for that venue. We are fully co-operating with the police investigation and will continue to support law enforcement in any way we can,” said the statement from Mimi Chinese.
When asked if there were any other issues between Parc and the restaurant, Mimi’s spokesperson said there were not any.
The Star’s efforts to reach management or ownership of Parc Ave. have not been successful.
This is a busy area, sandwiched in between Yorkville and the Annex neighbourhoods, best known as Ave & Dav, because of it proximity to Avenue and Davenport. It’s a lively mix of busy streets, tony businesses and condos and residential buildings. Across from the restaurant and club, residents of the building sat out in the sun, with some expressing surprise by the recent violent incidents.Â
“This road here is always busy, and those two places are busy on the weekends,” said Roland, who lives across the street, but didn’t want to give his last name. “I didn’t hear the shots, but it was not a good sight waking up to the police and yellow tape across from where we live.”
