As the CNE returns with a new lineup of food, games and rides, the TTC is stepping up to add extra rides to get to the 18-day fair.
The 146th annual Ex opens Friday and runs until Sept. 1. And with about a million and a half visitors expected to attend, the foot traffic is altering some TTC routes.
Here’s what you need to know if you’re headed to the CNE this year.Â
Buses
Starting Friday, a CNE Express bus will run between the TTC’s Bathurst and Dufferin stations, as well as extra service on the normal Dufferin bus routes. The 509 Harbourfront and 511 Bathurst routes will also have more streetcars running as visitors to the Ex increase traffic.Â
CNE Shuttle Buses will run “non-stop” in between Dufferin Station and the Dufferin Gate Loop, the TTC said in a news release, adding that dedicated express buses will also run between Bathurst Station and Exhibition Loop.
More buses will be deployed on the 29 Dufferin and 929 Dufferin routes, though there will be some route adjustments because of the road closures. The last stop will be at Dufferin Gate Loop.
The Ex will also redirect the 63 Ossington bus along King Street, Fraser Avenue, Liberty Street and Atlantic Avenue
Streetcar service
More streetcars will run on the 509 Harbourfront line that goes between Union Station and Exhibition Loop, as well as the 511 Bathurst route which runs between Bathurst and the loop.
The 503 Kingston Road line will have streetcars extended westbound along King Street West and The Queensway to Sunnyside Loop between 2 p.m. and 1 a.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m. to 1 a.m. to weekends.Â
The 510 Spadina route will run between Spadina station and Queens Quay Loop until 7:30 p.m. The car when then operate between Spadina and Union stations at night.Â
