Held at the Design Exchange on June 25, AIxTO: Reprogramming the Region’s Economy and Institutions for the New Age drew inspiration from the futuristic beauty of Hong Kong with a floor-to-ceiling rendering of a utopian ɫɫÀ² and sculptural floral arrangements.

Guests were greeted with a cocktail reception in the Gallery before heading down to the historic Trading Floor of the ɫɫÀ² Stock Exchange, a fitting venue for a discussion about the city’s financial future.
Over lunch, ɫɫÀ² Star Editor-in- Chief Nicole MacIntyre sat down with Avi Goldfarb, best-selling author and Rotman Chair in AI and Healthcare, Joyce Drohan, an AI strategist and former Ontario Government Chief AI Officer, and Daniel Wigdor, co-founder and CEO of AXL, for a candid discussion about how artificial intelligence is reshaping the region’s economy, institutions and future and what it means for business and civic leadership in the years ahead. Expert insights were plentiful, with thought-provoking takeaways for every industry.
The menu opened with sweet-andsour Singapore slaw followed by soy and red wine braised beef short ribs or Hong Kong-style braised tofu. Fresh and seasonal, it was an enticing teaser for a journey to Hong Kong, your gateway to Asia and a dedicated Canadian trade partner, with more than 27,000 Canadians travelling there for business last year.
