Labour Day is just around the corner and a list of road closures and TTC detours is planned for the statutory holiday’s annual parade.
Here’s what to know if you plan to travel around ɫɫÀ² on Monday.
Road closures
Drivers should expect downtown road closures as the annual ɫɫÀ² and York Region Labour Day Parade rolls into the city.
Starting at 9 a.m. Monday and lasting until around 2 p.m., the parade will take over the following streets:
- University Avenue — Adelaide Street West to Dundas Street West
- Armoury Street — University Avenue to Chestnut Street
- Centre Avenue — Armoury Street to Dundas Street West
- Queen Street West — Bay Street to Dufferin Street
- York Street — Queen Street West to Richmond Street West
- Dufferin Street — Queen Street West to CNE Entrance
The parade will disperse at the entrance to the CNE grounds at 2 p.m.
TTC disruptions
The TTC will be following a Sunday schedule on Labour Day beginning around 6 a.m. This means any stops or routes that aren’t normally in service on Sundays will not be operating.
The parade will also mean diversions for a number of TTC routes on Monday.
From 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., the 29 Dufferin bus route will divert southbound from Dufferin Street, going west on Dundas Street West, east on College Street, south on Lansdowne Avenue, east on Queen Street West, south on Cowan Avenue, east on King Street West, north on Elm Grove Avenue and west on Queen Street West.
Northbound buses will divert west across Queen Street West, head north on Lansdowne Avenue, east on Dundas Street West and back north on Dufferin Street.
Stops on Dufferin Street south of Dundas Street West won’t be served.Â
From 8:45 a.m. until 2:30 p.m., the northbound 63 Ossington bus route will turn east on Dundas Street West, south on Shaw Street, west on Halton Street and back north on Ossington Avenue to the regular route. Stops south of Dundas Street West won’t be served.
Between 8 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., 501A Queen streetcars will run a split route: the west side will run between Humber Loop and Dundas West Station via Roncesvalles Avenue. On the east side, streetcars will turn back going south on Church Street, west on Richmond Street, south on York Street and east on Adelaide Street West to the regular route.
501A Queen replacement buses will run from 7 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. between Humber Loop and Spadina Crescent via The Queensway, Queen Street West and Spadina Avenue.
Then from 8:45 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., 501A Queen replacement buses will run between Humber Loop and Spadina Crescent via The Queensway, Queen Street West, Lansdowne Avenue, Dundas Street West and Spadina Avenue.
Queen Street West stops between Spadina and Church won’t be served.
From 8:45 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., 503 Kingston Road replacement buses will head back from King Street West, south on Fraser Avenue, east on Liberty Street, north on Atlantic Avenue and east on King Street West and proceed to the regular route. Stops west of Fraser Avenue won’t be served.
The 504 King streetcars and replacement buses will also see detours from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.Â
The 504 King streetcars will turn back from Spadina Avenue, going east on Adelaide Street West, south on Charlotte Street and east on King Street West back to the regular route.
Eastbound 504 replacement buses will run south on Dundas Street West from Dundas West Station, south on Roncesvalles Avenue, east on King Street West and north on Elm Grove Avenue.
Westbound buses will head west on Queen Street West from Elm Grove Avenue, running south on Cowan Avenue, west on King Street West and north on Roncesvalles Avenue to Dundas West Station.
Stops on King Street West between Elm Grove and Spadina won’t be served.
From 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., 510 Spadina streetcars will turn back to Spadina Station from Spadina Avenue and Queens Quay Loop. Stops from Queens Quay West to Union Station won’t be served. 510 Spadina streetcars will resume service to Union Station after 9 p.m.Â
Some TTC routes will also be affected over the long weekend for construction or the Taste of Bangladesh festival.
Beginning at 12:01 a.m. on Saturday and lasting until 7 a.m. on Monday, the 12 Kingston Road and 69 Warden South buses will divert on Danforth Ave using Kingston Road, Birchmount Road, Highview Avenue, McIntosh Street and Claremore Avenue for the Taste of Bangladesh festival.
The 70 O’Connor and 87 Cosburn buses are diverting until 7 a.m. on Sept. 5 for emergency repairs after a large sinkhole opened up on Thursday. The 87 Cosburn buses are running on O’Connor Drive between Donlands Avenue and Woodbine Avenue while the 70 O’Connor buses are diverting using Woodbine, Mortimer, and Cowell avenues.
The 94 Wellesley buses are diverting along Ossington Avenue, Bloor Street, Queen’s Park Circle, and Wellesley Street until 7 a.m. on Sept. 27 while the City of ɫɫÀ² installs bike lanes on Harbord Street.
The 20 Cliffside westbound buses are diverting at Eglinton Avenue and Midland Avenue for road construction until 7 a.m. on Oct. 12. The buses are running on Eglinton Avenue, along Gilder Drive, and Midland Avenue.
There are no planned subway closures.
