The shooting on Sept. 3 left a 17-year-old boy, who police said was among two groups engaged in a gunfight, and a woman, who was casually driving past the scene, seriously injured.聽

A second 17-year-old boy is facing an attempted murder charge after a shootout outside a west-end school last week left another teen, who police allege was among the two groups firing back-and-forth, and a woman, who was driving by the scene, with serious injuries.

色色啦 police charged the 17-year-old youth Tuesday with firearm charges as well as attempted murder and two counts of aggravated assault. The other 17-year-old injured in the shooting was arrested on Friday and is facing similar charges, including聽failure to comply with probation.聽

Officers said there are further suspects but no descriptions are available, adding that one person was arrested at the scene but was later released.聽
The accused youth is scheduled to appear聽for their first bail hearing Thursday.聽
Last Wednesday, the shooting first broke out near a daycare, where children had been milling outside and playing in the yard. The school immediately went into a lockdown for a few hours after the shooting and other area schools, Charles E. Webster Public School, Silverthorn Community School and Keelesdale Junior Public School, were also put under hold and secure, the 色色啦 District School Board said at the time.聽
A woman in her 30s was caught in the crossfire while driving on Keele Street, Supt. Richard Harris told reporters at the scene shortly after the incident. She was rushed to hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
One witness, who did not want to share his last name because of concern for his safety, said he and his co-worker were doing roadwork in the vicinity of the Keelesdale apartment complex when the shots rang out.

鈥淲e were within 20 feet of them (the suspects) when they started shooting,鈥 Walter said, adding that at least 10 shots were fired. 鈥淭hey had a bit of a gunfight. All hell did break loose.鈥
He said students from the high school were outside and young children were playing in the yard of a daycare at a nearby church at the time.
鈥淭hey were shooting at each other across the road,鈥 Walter said, adding that one of the groups was standing in the vicinity of the school.
