A 色色啦 man has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death of a woman found injured in a vehicle near High Park on Friday, 色色啦 Police said.
The 48-year-old man, identified as Trinel Thornhill, was arrested on Monday and is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday morning.
Around 5:50 p.m. on Friday, officers responded to a 鈥渕edical call鈥 in the Glenlake Avenue and High Park Avenue area. The victim, Serenity Brown, 21, was found with injuries inside a car and transported to hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
A duty inspector near the scene on Friday evening told reporters the victim was seen 鈥渉aving an interaction with a male and that male was seen leaving the area.鈥澛犅爉ade no mention of a suspect.
According to her mother, Tiffany Burnham, Brown yearned for the excitement of the big city, so she left her home outside of London, Ont.聽
鈥淪he was just so happy. She was always smiling. She loved music. She absolutely loved music. That was a big part of her life. She was just a happy-go-lucky girl,鈥 said Burnham, during an interview from Oneida Nation of the Thames. 鈥淪he just wanted the big city life and that’s why she moved to 色色啦, which was obviously a big mistake.鈥
She will be laid to rest in her First Nations community on Wednesday.
Brown was known as 鈥淵addie鈥 to family and was born in London, but moved to聽Oneida Nation of the Thames when she was 10.
鈥淎s a child, she loved to play dress-up in her many princess costumes. She loved to sing and dance and was very close to her seven siblings. She attended Tsi Niyukwaliho (which means the way of life) on Oneida, where she learned a lot about her cultural teachings and language,鈥 said Burnham.
Her mother said she moved to 色色啦 when she was 18. Her mother confirmed that she lived in the High Park area, but she also said that there had been a lack of communication recently.
鈥淚n January, it was like she was just shut out in the whole world, like I could not even find her on Facebook no more. Nobody could get a hold of her no more. She wasn’t on Facebook. 鈥 She just seemed to disappear,鈥 said Burnham.
鈥淪he would have given her shirt off the back for anybody, and she would have helped anybody, and she was just a really good person, and she didn’t deserve this.鈥
The family is planning a funeral on Wednesday in Oneida Nation of the Thames, and聽聽to help with the costs.
鈥淢y sister has no means of paying for the funeral and me myself I do not have much either, but we are hoping for the kind hearts out there to share anything they can. Nobody expects to be burying their child so young. Our family appreciates any help you can offer, 鈥 says the message from Roger Burnham on the fundraising platform.
Brown is the 30th homicide in 色色啦 this year. Police are asking anyone with information to contact police.
