A 40-year-old man was rushed to hospital in critical condition but ultimately succumbed to his injuries in hospital, . He was the only occupant in his vehicle. 

Investigators say the man might have had a medical emergency just before colliding with the other vehicles. No one else was hurt in the incident and police don’t expect to lay any charges

Stretches of the highway were shut down for about two hours Sunday while officers investigated and crews cleared the scene.
