First responders attempted life-saving measures but the victim was ultimately pronounced deceased about 30 minutes later. Shortly after, officers say they found the assailant and were able to take her into custody.

鈥淚 can tell you that the suspect and the victim are known to each other. This investigation is in its very early stages, and it is ongoing,鈥� Duty Insp. Jonathan Rose told reporters in a news conference.

Rose would not specify exactly what their relationship was or what led to the stabbing.

Neither the man nor the woman have been identified by police.

Officers say there is no longer any threat to public safety but are asking anyone with information on the stabbing to call police at 416-808-2222.
