York police say latest shooting at Vaughan home linked to two others over weekend, man arrested

A man has been arrested after shots were fired at a home in Vaughan overnight, following three similar shootings over the weekend.Ìý
York Regional Police responded to a house on Lady Angela Lane, near , around 2:25 a.m. on Wednesday.
Officers were called to the address over the sounds of gunshots and were already in the area because of the increased police patrols in the neighbourhood in recent days,ÌýConst. Lisa Moskaluk told reporters outside the home on Wednesday morning.Ìý

Once they got to the scene, they found the suspect’s vehicle and “contained” it, which led to a minor collision with a police vehicle.Ìý
The suspect then tried to run away but was arrested after a brief foot pursuit,ÌýMoskaluk added.ÌýThe home’s residents and officers were not hurt but the suspect suffered minor injuries.Ìý
A 23-year-old man from Innisfil, Ont. was arrested and is facing multiple charges.Ìý
Moskaluk said the address was targeted in the shooting, but not the residents.
Three other Vaughan homes were targeted and shot at in the early morning hours of Saturday and Sunday, including two on Via Romano Boulevard, which is a short distance from Lady Angela Lane.ÌýDuring the media conference, Moskaluk said the shooting on Wednesday is connected to the two onÌýVia Romano Boulevard but investigators are still searching for a connection to the fourth shooting.Ìý

Police said they aren’t looking for any other suspects in Wednesday’s shooting but are still investigating the possibility that others were involved in the weekend shootings.
There is no immediate threat to the public,Ìýofficers saidÌý, but there was a large police presence in the neighbourhood. People were asked to avoid the area during the investigation.
The slew of gun violence in the area also comes after a Vaughan father and businessman was fatally shot during a home invasion in Kleinburg, Ont, on Aug. 31.
