Paramedics and police provided medical assistance but the man was pronounced dead at the scene, the SIU said.

É«É«À² Fire crews were dispatched to the home for a “crime-related medical call” shortly after 6 p.m., approximately twenty minutes after police responded.

When firefighters arrived, they said emergency responders were performing CPR on one individualÌýand left the situation in the hands of the police.

Paramedics said they responded to the incidentÌýas a “high priority” call, meaning it was a possibly life-threatening situation,Ìýbut directed all further questions to the police.

The SIU — an agency tasked with investigating police interactions that result in injury, death or a gun being fired at someoneÌý— has invoked their mandate. Four investigators and two forensic investigators have been assigned to the case.Ìý

Neighbours on the street said they asked police what was going on but were told their questions couldn’t be answered.
