Blue Jays vs. Reds: 12-run outburst is enough to survive struggles of Berrios and the bullpen

Springer homers twice, sets franchise record for leadoff home runs.

George Springer’s first-inning home run was his 23rd leadoff homer as a Blue Jay, passing Devon White for the franchise lead.


It was a lot more difficult than it needed to be, but the Blue Jays used their prolific offence to overcome a sloppy night on the mound and pick up a much-needed victory in Cincinnati.

The Jays scored four runs in the first inning and four more in the second. That set the stage for a blowout victory until José Berríos and the bullpen made things interesting.
