The prime minister’s parliamentary secretary, Kody Blois, and Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe were to wrap a three-day trade mission to China intended to “engage constructively with Chinese officials” on the trade file. Moe wants to see Beijing’s tariffs on canola removed. The trip comes after the federal government on Friday announced financial support for canola producers feeling the effects of the levies.

Bombardier speech

Bombardier chief executive Éric Martel is at the Canadian Club É«É«À² on Wednesday and will participate in a conversation with Perrin Beatty. The private jet company announced plans last month to grow its services and support network in the U.S. in both areas where it already operates, as well as new locations. 

Transat results

Transat AT Inc. will report its third-quarter results and hold a conference call with financial analysts on Thursday. The travel company announced plans earlier this year for new routes to the Caribbean, Mexico and Europe as it hopes to cater to Canadians looking to avoid travel to the U.S.

Empire results

Empire Co. Ltd. will release its first-quarter results and hold its annual meeting of shareholders on Thursday morning. The retailer, which owns multiple banners across the country including Sobeys and Safeway, officially signed on as the first retailer member of Canada’s new grocery code of conduct earlier this year.

Household debt

Statistics Canada will release its latest reading on the household debt-to-income ratio on Thursday. The figure is part of the agency’s second-quarter national balance sheet and financial flow accounts report. The first-quarter report showed there was $1.74 in credit market debt for every dollar of household disposable income.
